Arriving from Italy for our internship, the initial impact of a completely new environment and reality understandably scared us a little. Everything was different, and our first reactions were hesitant. However, it was enough to start working practically and get to know the people running this place to completely change our perspective.<\/p>\n
During our experience at the JUZ, we had the opportunity to test ourselves with activities that were completely new to us: we learned how to use a sewing machine to recycle old clothes, putting them back into circulation by repairing and customizing them with printed designs and graphics. In addition to the wonderful initiative of offering German courses for refugees from war zones or for people who cannot afford to study, we managed to follow these lessons; despite the obvious difficulties, we dedicated ourselves with commitment and learned several words as well as other aspects of the German language.<\/p>\n
We truly understood the real purpose of this project: this is not just about welcoming people, but about dedicating oneself wholeheartedly to doing good, while stimulating the creativity of young people.
